Sin City Woodworkers, a Vegas valley social and networking group committed to serious (and not so serious!) woodworking discussions. We meet on the third Thursday of each month to share everything from techniques and ideas to information about local suppliers and much more.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 19 at 7:00 and will feature leather worker Napoleon Buenrostro, who will be demonstrating leather work, and how it can be helpful to woodworkers. Need some chisel protectors? A custom shop apron? Want to cover the face of a mallet? How about a leather strop for honing your blades? Leather work is more valuable to woodworkers that you can imagine!
Napoleon started as an aspiring woodworker hobbyist during the pandemic at Wood It Is! After having taken several woodworking classes, he faced several adversities in his woodworking endeavors. It was then that he ventured out into the realm of leather crafting with his first exposure being leather crafting videos on YouTube.
His initial training consisted of free lessons at the local leather store and asking more experienced leather crafters for advice. Since then Napoleon has learned a solid technique which allows for the creation of custom made leather goods and accessories for all types of applications - from fine leather goods to useful workshop add-ons. He will bring some of his work and will be available to answer any questions regarding leather work.
We’ll be collecting SCWW dues this month - remember - these are always voluntary, but help us with the costs associated with running our group. Just our Meetup costs alone are nearly $400 a year, so your dues go a long way in helping us keep this group active.
Have you built something interesting lately, that you want to share with the group? Bring something for Show-and-Tell and feel free to brag a bit!
This meeting will be held at Woodcraft of Las Vegas at 5220 W. Charleston Blvd. As always, the public is welcome to attend the meeting, so members - please feel free to bring a guest along. If you have questions or need directions, call (702) 672-8981.
