Follow the trail of sawdust to our next meeting...
Sin City Woodworkers, a Vegas valley social and networking group committed to serious (and not so serious!) woodworking discussions, meet on the third Wednesday of each month to share everything from techniques and project ideas to information about local suppliers and much more. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00, and is one of the most anticipated meetings ever!
We have an incredible field trip planned…. Master woodworker Dennis Patchett has finally completed his master-crafted home, and he promises to share this labor of love (of over twenty years in the making) with our group. Oh yeah… and we’ll have an opportunity to visit his woodshop and see where the magic happens!
Dennis has incredible woodworking skills - from carving to building furniture to construction - he truly does it all. His talent for building American period furniture is second to none (seriously!) and we’re proud to call him a vital member of our group. You can learn more from just watching him carve a simple apple than watching any TV show or carving video. Dennis has taken his decades of woodworking and put those skills to work, building a home from the ground up, sparing no detail. The architectural details - from custom moldings, to floor medallions, to inlays and trim… well, let’s just say you won’t soon forget this meeting!
The address is 6375 Westwind Road, Las Vegas, NV 89118… you can put the address in your GPS and hopefully find it without any trouble. It’s on the south end of town, and there is a gravel road behind his woodshop, that will accommodate extra parking. If you get turned around and need a little help with directions, you can reach Dennis at 702-782-3519.
We’ll skip our usual Show and Tell this month, but we will be collecting member dues, which are always completely voluntary. We’ll never twist your arm for the $20 it takes to call yourself a bona fide Sin City Woodworker, but it sure helps us defray the costs of running this group year round. And the best part - any monies left over go right back into the pockets of our members, so please consider joining us this year. We’ll be collecting dues for the next few months, so if you don’t make it to this one, you still have time.
