Interested in Crowd-Funding? Join us at our next meeting...

Sin City Woodworkers

Follow the trail of sawdust to our next meeting...

We’re in for a special treat at our August Sin City Woodworkers meeting!
Join us this Wednesday,  August 16 at 7:00 when Andrew Tau of Good Wood will share his first hand experiences with crowd funding, sharing his experiences  while hosting a Q&A about his successful Kickstarter campaign.
If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter - it’s the worlds largest funding platform for creative projects. Have an invention to bring to market, or a business you’d like to start? Kickstarter brings ideas and financial backers together, funding various creative projects across the globe.
Andrew’s first real experience with woodworking came during summer break in college - he worked for a restaurant supply company in their woods manufacturing division. Their main client was Applebee’s, and he and the crew were building new bars for every single location nationwide. As Andrew said - “In reality it wasn't so much working wood as it was more just setting up million dollar machines. Nonetheless I had the bug. I went back to school and immediately signed up for as many woodworking classes as they'd let me take, and eventually became the shop tech as well. Graduation meant the end to my easy access to tools and in turn a hiatus from woodworking for a few years. “
Fast forward - after slowly acquiring a few tools, with the mission in mind to create a workshop of his own, Andrew decided to use to use a Kickstarter campaign to jumpstart his wood shop.
“A Kickstarter is a great way to crowd source funding for a project, but is much easier said than done.”
Andrew will be sharing his experience and tips for executing a successful campaign of your own - it’s a great way to generate new and loyal customers quickly if you are trying to turn your hobby into a business or grow an already existing business.
If you have a moment, take a look at his Kickstarter page and come with any questions on Wednesday!
As always - you’re welcome to bring a friend! This meeting will be held at Studio: Wood It Is!, 2267 West Gowan, unit 106 in North Las Vegas. As always, the public is welcome to attend the meeting, but remember - there are a limited number of chairs in the woodshop. Attendees might want to bring a folding chair if they wish to sit during the meeting. If you have questions or need directions, call the studio at 702-631-1870.
