Happy 9th Anniversary, and ... oh, don't miss our next meeting!

Sin City Woodworkers

Follow the trail of sawdust to our next meeting...

Sin City Woodworkers, a Vegas valley social and networking group committed to serious (and not so serious!) woodworking discussions, meet on the third Wednesday of each month to share everything from techniques and ideas to information about local suppliers and much more. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21 at 7:00 and we have a special treat in store!
But… before I tell you about that…
Happy anniversary to all us… we’re celebrating our ninth year anniversary this month, and that’s something to cheer! People doubted that it could be done. That we couldn’t sustain a woodworking community here for that long. We have proven that we have a solid group, with a great diversity of talent. So - congratulations to all of us, whether you’re a new member, or one of our founders. Be proud of that!
This month - we have something special planned… two words - FIELD TRIP!
If you’ve been jonesin’ about the current “live edge” movement, this month’s meeting will likely wet your whistle!  Join us for an evening with Andrew and Nic Moore of Reclaimed Secrets on Wednesday, February 21 at 7:00 for a tour of their newly expanded store, lumberyard, and studio space.

Reclaimed Secrets is a full scale furniture design company, lumberyard, and much more. Andrew sustainably harvests a variety of woods, including his infamous Beetle Kill Pine and Alligator Juniper, as well as some new species - including new hardwood additions walnut, pecan and more.

Located in the heart of the city, just a few doors down from Tool Service (a local tool repair shop that many of you have probably visited), Andrew’s been tearing up the local scene lately with his voluminous output of live edge tables. Some of his recent commissions have included the City of Las Vegas, many local restaurants and bars, and a great number of residential interiors. Andrew and his wife Nic were in the top running for Martha Stewart's Handmade in America 3 years in a row, and frankly - they build more in a month than most of us build in a year!

We won’t be having a Show and Tell at this meeting, so save some of your latest pieces for next month’s meeting. By the way, next month, we will be starting up our annual Dues Drive, where we ask you to become a bona fide member for the ridiculously cheap rate of $20 for the year! While dues are completely voluntary, your donation goes a long way to make our life easier - from funding our various operation expenses to supporting local woodworkers via our yearly building contests. And the best thing? Any leftover funds are given back to our members at the end of the year, at our annual Christmas party. What have you got to lose?… please consider becoming a dues paying member next month!
As always, the public is welcome to attend this meeting, so members - please feel free to bring a guest along. But remember that there is limited seating in Andrew’s woodshop.  Attendees might want to bring a folding chair if they wish to sit during the meeting. If you have questions or need directions, call the studio at 702-631-1870.
See you there!
